Rihanna Surpasses Michael Jackson in No. 1 Singles

Rihanna has earned her 14th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song Work, which means that she has now held more No. 1 singles than Michael Jackson.

The Umbrella singer was previously tied with the King of Pop at 13 No. 1s a piece, but her latest addition, no doubt helped by releasing two separate music videos for the song, has managed to catapult Rihanna to third place, leaving Michael Jackson behind to wallow in fourth.

Rihanna is steadily climbing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, with only six No. 1 hits separating her and the current throne holders, The Beatles, who are sitting pretty with a whopping  20 hits, a spot they’ve held for 45 years.

Of course before Rihanna even thinks about trying to tackle the supergroup from across the pond, she will have to contend with someone a little closer to home, namely Mariah Carey, who is presently a much bigger competitor for the current top spot holders, with the diva holding a solid 18 No. 1s.

Rihanna has already swooped past a number of notable talents, including, Madonna, The Supremes and Whitney Houston, in order to reach her current standing in the charts, which all started with the single SOS that earned her the first No. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2006.

The 28 year old doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down, with Work being just the first single to be released off her latest album, Antiwhich was released January 28, 2016.
