Kim Gordon Announces New Glitterbust Album and Drops Debut Single

It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from the multi-talented Kim Gordon.

Her last musical project, guitar duo Body/Headreleased album Coming Apart way back in 2013. But following on from the release of her much lauded memoir Girl In a Band in 2015, Gordon has again turned her mind to musical pursuits with another two-person collaboration; Glitterbust.

Working alongside vocalist-guitarist Alex Knost, best known for his work in surfy underground LA outfit tomorrows tullips, Gordon debuted her new project at label Burger Records’ Burger a-Go-Go 2 festival last September.

The pair have now revealed that they will be dropping a self-titled 5 track LP on March 4.

Giving fans a taste of what to expect the duo have also shared debut single The Highline.

Clocking in at 9 minutes, the single’s  frenzied sonic experimentation is certainly something that will leave shred heads frothing. Replete with droning guitar licks, ample distortion and overall lo-fi production. the track is sure to please fans of Sonic Youth or Gordon’s previous side projects. With a feedback laden pulse and minimalistic vocals which perfectly evokes Gordon’s signature sound The Highline doesn’t disappoint.

It’s been nearly five years since the tumultuous split between Kim Gordon from husband and Sonic Youth co-founder Thurston Moore after 27 years of marriage. The separation also brought about the end to Sonic Youth, which initially formed in 1981.
