Koi Child Share Brand New Single And Announce Debut Album

Not long after touring the country supporting Tame Impala, Fremantle seven piece Koi Child are gearing up to make this year theirs with some huge news announced this week. Not only did they share a brand new single in the form of 1-5-9, they also announced a debut album is on the way, which happened to be produced by none other than Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

The new single, 1-5-9, is a little more mellow than their breakout track, Black Panda. Whilst the latter was a high energy number that could almost incite a riot, 1-5-9 is a step back from that. Showing a certain versatility not really heard from the group before, their new single has our intrigue well and truly piqued, and our love for this band cemented even further.

Encompassing a hell of a lot of influences in just under five minutes, Koi Child use their jazz-infused hip-hop stomping ground, and Parker’s penchant for psychedelia, to create this warm and lush track. It’s an exciting second single, and has us extremely keen to hear what else they have in store for this year.

Set to be released via Pilerats Records on March 18, the Perth boys are also set to celebrate the released of their self-titled debut with a national headline tour to coincide with their appearance at Golden Plains in March. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, January 15 and are not expected to last long, so set those alarms and snap them up – don’t say we didn’t warn you!
