Shamir-Final

WATCH: Shamir reviews 2015

Shamir is the kind of person who doesn’t hold back, this much we know from his relationship advice hotline. So who better to call on for a review of the entire year of 2015 than the Las Vegas singer-songwriter?

Shamir, who put his debut album Ratchet out earlier this year, sat down for a segment with Stereogum in which he discussed highlights of the year as it draws to a close. Looking regal as fuck with a white faux-fur throw draped across his lap and his song In For The Kill playing in the background, he covers all the important topics from the year. In his review, Shamir (wrongly) identifies that The Dress as white and gold, worries about life on Mars – especially when it comes to people experimenting on aliens – approves man-buns and points out that everyone knew a teacher like Lena Dunham‘s Hannah in girls who was “just too close to the children”.

On the musical side of things, he cites Marina and the Diamonds‘ song Froot as his favourite track of the year, divulges that he loves Taylor Swift and wrote his entire album and EP in a T Swizz notebook and says that he would join her “weird Illuminati squad” if invited. He adds that he thinks Kanye West put all his time and energy into his clothing line and that’s why we still haven’t got Swish. Adding to that, Shamir would 100 per cent wear something from Kanye’s line… if he got it for free. Because no one can afford that to spend that much on a pair of beige leggings.
