Rustie Cancels Shows Due to “Addiction and Mental Health Problems”

Glaswegian producer Rustie has taken to Twitter to announce he will be going on an indefinite break, due to “addiction and mental health problems”. He also took to Facebook to reiterate the message, and said all future social media posts will be made from management as he takes a step back from that platform as well.

The news comes not too long after the surprise release of his third album, EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE, which was released last month. Signed to Warp Records along with Hudson Mohawke and Aphex Twin, it was his 2014 record Green Language that saw him explode onto the national stage, with tracks like Attak featuring Danny Brown and Slasherr quickly becoming international dance anthems.

It is unsure just how long Rustie, who also recently shared a new track from hospital, is planning to take this break for, but all future shows he was booked to play have since been cancelled. He expressed how “very very sorry” he was to his fans in his message, and has received nothing but love and support in return.

Here’s hoping Rustie makes a speedy but well-needed recovery, and that he receives the help and support he needs in this time. Check out his latest video for his single First Mythz here, in all it’s dolphin-y glory.
