Kesha Rules And This Video Proves It

Last week on Christmas Eve Eve (Dec 23), Kesha put on a surprise show at the Springwater Lounge in Nashville with her band, Yeast Infection. She’s been having a rough time, ol’ Kesha, but footage from the show has since emerged, and now we know she’s not going anywhere – no matter how hard her oppressors try.

Last year, after a stint in rehab, Kesha filed a lawsuit of sexual, physical and emotional abuse against her producer, Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald). Since then, she has been stuck in music industry purgatory with her label refusing to let her out of her contract whilst she continues her ongoing legal battle with Dr. Luke. It’s pretty appalling how badly she is being treated, like an object or a product instead of a human being who deserves respect, but it seems that at least one good thing has come from this veritable shitstorm she has been caught in for months.

The surprise show at Nashville was intentionally recorded, with multiple cameras to get some good angles. It was then uploaded by Kesha to her Facebook page, with a sort of warning attached to the clip. After wishing her “Animals” well for the holiday season, she went onto say in the caption, “Don’t worry NO ONE will ever shut me up.” The following video proves this and more.

Turning her explosive, borderline EDM tracks Blow and Timber into stripped back, punchy grunge tracks wouldn’t have been easy, but you can practically feel her anger through the screen. She is so fucking fierce in this performance, it’s actually inspirational to see how determined she is to continue fighting back to those who keep putting her down. If anything, Kesha really was ahead of her time, as cliche as it may be. Though Tik Tok may have been an earworm we would rather not revisit, her creative output is one that the world just wasn’t ready for back then. Now, we have Miley, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and more doing pretty much what Kesha did first, and people are much more accepting of their behaviour- and their creative output.

Here’s hoping that this new sound that Kesha is working with, and her new band, see some positivity in 2016, because we could definitely get around an album of this Kesha! See below for yourself:
