Apple Music Reveals Holiday Programming for Beats 1

Having only existed for a matter of months, Apple Music and the always running online radio station Beats 1 have already re-shaped the way we consume music by giving a competitive edge to the world of streaming. With industry heavyweight Zane Lowe at the helm of regular producers, and Ebro Darden and Julie Adenuga flanking him, the seemingly endless programme options provide users with constant and consistently great music all. the. time.

So, what happens for the holidays? Radio hosts need a break too, you know.

From December 21 through to Christmas Day (December 25 for those playing at home), Apple Music will be counting down the “Apple Music 100″ – listing the top 100 most successful artists of this year. Described as “music that moved the masses”, the days leading up to and including Christmas will be filled with the music that has shaped 2015, based on Apple Music streams and iTunes sales. There will also be a “Rocket Hour Special” courtesy of none other than Elton John, who will be celebrating “the season with a selection of great music.”

Following on from that, Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig will be taking charge on Boxing Day, and Major Lazer will be bringing the reggae vibes on the 27th. Listeners can also start the year off right with “WRTJ’s New Year’s Resolutions”- WRTJ of course being Killer Mike and El-P of Run The Jewels, before the Soulection crew, HAIM and Vice offshoot Noisey each take turns ringing the first day of 2016.

Zane, Ebro and Julie will be returning from January 4, with regular programming resuming then also, as the service continues it’s first incredibly huge year. For more info, head here.
