Thundercat Teams Up With Mono/Poly For Beautifully Haunting Tribute To Paris

Sometimes, it is hard to find the right words to explain our shock, anger and sorrow at the world’s tragedies, and Friday’s attacks on Paris have left many of us speechless.

When words fail, many turn to music to express what we cannot adequately put in words, and one of the masters of capturing emotions and feelings in music is the dazzling bassist and mastermind producer Thundercat. His mix of jazz, funk, R&B and psychedelic tones always makes for a unique listening experience.

Thundercat teamed up with fellow Brainfeeder signee Mono/Poly in the wake of the Paris attacks to release an 84 second instrumental tribute simply titled Paris. The song was uploaded to Thundercat’s SoundCloud page with the short message: “In tribute to those who lost their lives…” Listen below.

There are no words in the song but it speaks volumes as Thundercat’s guitar weeps and captures a number of emotions, mixing anxiety, beauty and sadness.

Thundercat will be in Australia for Laneway Festival and will be doing a number of sideshow:
