Mumford & Sons Announce Exhibition, Charity Soccer match and more!

Just as we thought we couldn’t be more excited for Mumford & Sons to touch down in Sydney, they go and announce a bunch of charity events, exhibitions and more details about their upcoming all-day event at the Domain. Here’s some of the exciting M&S events taking place:

Photography Exhibition

Along with their appearance at the Domain on Saturday as part of the Gentlemen of the Road, the gang have also announced a photography exhibition, which will document their experiences and performances all over the world. This includes headlining gigs (obviously) from the UK to Canada and right back here to Australia.

Most of the photos are taken by their photographer Marcus Haney who has been working with them for nearly six years, as well as some shots from Ty Johnson and some of the band members. “These are not the glossy images suited to the pages of a magazine, but instead show a working band navigating their way through the highs and lows of the road, both on and off the stage,” the band said.

Starting on Friday, November 13, from 12-6pm there’s going to be a double pass giveaway to The Domain event every hour as well as 20 free beers per hour. Saturday, November 14 will see a free breakfast being served up from 10am, live mural painters all day and limited complimentary beers from 11am. Plus Uber is offering a $25 discount for new users and a 20% discount for existing users to get there if you enter the code word GOTRSYD. Following this, on Sunday, November 15, there’s going to be a live screen printer from 12-3pm, which will be creating complimentary limited edition t-shirts as well as limited complimentary afternoon beers from 12pm. Check out the Facebook event here.

So if you want to have a look at some of their brilliant work, or even better get your hands on some to purchase, it will be popping up at Young Henry’s Brewery this Friday through Sunday.

Opening Times: 10:00am – 7:00pm Daily

Signed Banjo Charity Campaign

They’ve also announced they will be auctioning off a signed Banjo, with the proceeds going towards those in need around the country – The Australian Red Cross QLD Flood Reflied, White Ribbon, Feed Melbourne and the Aukland City Mission in New Zealand. Banjos Down Under have custom made one banjo for each city, crafted with a hard rock American maple neck, a violin grade maple rim and black finish. If that doesn’t turn you on I don’t know what will.

Head to eBay to place your bids and prepare for the battle.

Gentlemen of the Road Soccer Charity Tournament

It seems the boys really do have a heart of gold – not only selling off banjos left, right and centre, but also hosting a charity soccer tournament on Friday, November 13 with proceeds going to the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence and the Dungog Community. Just as the lads dodged some fast bowling from Brett Lee at the Gabba in Brisbane, they will be headed to the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern, Sydney to play a match against The Vaccines, the Dungon Boomerangs, some of the guys from Bondi Rescue, a team of youth leaders from the NCIE (entrance via 180 George St, Redfern) as well as some teams from the industry including Stoney Roads and Purple Sneakers. Gates open at 5:45pm for a 6:00pm kick off, plus there will be a raffle, and a sausage sizzle and entry is only $5.

Note: NCIE is an alcohol free zone.

Gentlemen of the Road Special All Day Event

Of course, don’t forget the main event of the weekend, the Gentlemen of the Road concert at the Domain is happening his Saturday and features Mumford & Sons, The Vaccines, Meg Mac, Jungle Giants, Art of Sleeping, Jake Bugg & Future Islands. Surprisingly, it isn’t sold out yet so you can still grab tickets here.

If the lineup alone isn’t drawing you in though, try the newly announced food and drink menu on for size as well. The more festivals improve their food on offer, the more I question whether I actually attend festivals for the music. It seems Gentlemen of The Road will be no different, with a delectable selection of everything you need to stay nourished and/or intoxicated.

For a feed, Gelato Messina will be there for the show who have created specialty sweets for the day, whilst Mary’s, with their famous burgers and fried chicken will also be making an appearance along with a plethora of other tantalising food stalls from all over the world – Bits Sized Delights, Emmy’s Gozleme, Tsuru, La Carovana, Eat Art Truck, and so many more.

And for the drinks, there’s a Craft Beer & Cider Garden serving Young Henrys and Batlow Cider, as well as the main bars which will be serving the usual suspects of Cooper Lager, Captain Morgans and Smirnoff varieties and the rest.

Gentlemen Of The Road is this Saturday, November 14 at The Domain in Sydney.
