DAngelo-1

D’Angelo, Cold War Kids + more added to Bluesfest 2016

Bluesfest has long held a reputation for incredibly strong lineups, and 2016 is looking to be one of its greatest years to date. The already-stellar lineup has now had a whole lot more acts added to the bill, the most exciting addition being the one and only D’Angelo. A legend of neo-soul, R&B, jazz, funk and beyond, last year saw the release of his first album in 14 years, Black Messiah. D’Angelo will be performing at Bluesfest with his band The Vanguard, along with Cold War Kids, Hiatus Kaiyote and plenty more:

D’Angelo & The Vanguard
Cold War Kids
Hiatus Kaiyote
Houndmouth
Fantastic Negrito
Con Brio
Kaleo
Mike Love
The Bros Landreth
Kim Churchill
Mojo Juju
Pierce Brothers
Harts
Steve Smyth

They will join the incredible lineup featuring Kendrick Lamar, City & Colour, The National, Tom Jones, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Brian Wilson and many, many more.

Although some have found the booking of Kendrick Lamar to be controversial, it’s clear that the festival have our best intentions in mind. Festival director Peter Noble discussed the booking of D’Angelo, saying, “when Bluesfest confirmed Kendrick Lamar we had the guy who produced the best record in hip-hop this year, and now we have the guy who recorded the best current record in R&B: D’Angelo.”

“We now have playing at Bluesfest, on the same stage and on the same night, the two most important innovators in rap and R&B today.”

Bluesfest takes place from Thursday March 24 – Monday March 28, 2016. Head to the official Bluesfest website for tickets, information and everything else.
