Shamir drops new video for ‘In For The Kill’

You’d be forgiven if you’ve forgotten about 2009’s Balloon Boy hoax. The ridiculous story has barely been mentioned in recent years – until now. Las Vegas singer and songwriter Shamir debuted his music video for In The Kill this week, an Anthony Sylvester directed clip that sourced the weird and wacky story line from the incredulous hoax.

The video sees Shamir piloting a UFO, his ridiculous journey surveyed by those whose feet are still firmly planted on the ground. It’s aesthetically pleasing, quirky and outlandish- all things that are typical of Shamir’s usual outputs.

In regards to the song itself, Shamir had this to say:

“In For the Kill” is about making sacrifices to do things that make you happy. For me, that’s making and playing music. I had to leave a lot of things back in Vegas in order to do music – family, friends, certain trinkets I collect because I’m a very sentimental person. When you make music, you almost have to disappear and go deep inside yourself so that you can come back and give people something that feels honest to you. “In For the Kill” is a song for me to show that what I’m doing is not an easy thing. It’s something that I have to work hard towards.
