Disclosure drop dystopian video for third single ‘Jaded’

The build up to Disclosure’s second album Caracal continues, with the release of their third single Jaded, accompanied by a typically dystopian music video.

If you’ve been following the seemingly never ending hype surrounding this album, and managing to keep track of the songs that have been dropping nearly every other day, you’ll be aware of the extended storyline that runs through their recent music videos. It tracks the plight of a group of people led by a young woman Mariella who is rebelling against an all-encompassing tyrannical government in a dark, dystopian future world.

In this third episode, the female protagonist Mariella has been captured and is being questioned in a room with creepy flickering lights. The four part series was ignited by their debut single Holding On, and followed by their collaboration with Sam Smith in Omen.

This time it’s the Lawrence brothers of Disclosure themselves who feature on the clip, with the younger brother Howard nailing some brilliant vocals. The track questions the electronic music scene, which they believe thrives off uncreative and unthoughtful beats and sounds.

Jaded really takes off in the verses, with punctuated vocals being supported by some punchy percussion. While the chorus isn’t as addictive as Omen or Holding On, it makes up for it in its dark intrigue.

There’s no word yet which song will complete the video series, but Disclosure have kept a few big names up their sleeves – namely their collaborations with Lorde and The Weeknd.

Their album is due to drop later this month on September 25, ending months of speculation, hype and even controversy.
