50 Cent drops ‘9 Shots’, reminds the world why he’s famous

What’s the fastest way out of bankruptcy? Going back to doing the thing that made you rich in the first place. Should be a no-brainer. 50 Cent seems to have come to the same conclusion I have, and has released a new track called 9 Shots.

Last week, 50 performed 9 Shots at a Capitol Records rooftop party in New York City. The track is to be featured on the forthcoming Street King Immortal (SKI) album, set to finally drop in November – many moons beyond the original release date of February 2013.

Evidently, 50 is reliving the crucial moment back in 2000 when he was shot nine times, perhaps trying to remind us that he has overcome worse than a few financial woes. The track describes the hard times of his past as a series of snapshots, and for any future troubles, he says, “I got two shots left in case n****s try to get me / That’s nine shots, we just call it 50.”

The track will reportedly serve as soundtrack music for an upcoming Season 2 finale of the Starz Network show, POWER, where 50 Cent plays the recurring role of Kanan.

Fans are excited at the news, having waited for this album since 2012’s 5 (Murdered by Numbers), despite being treated to his 11-track album Animal Ambition last year. Now if he could just stick to the album release date, he could well and truly start to dig himself out of bankruptcy.

9 Shots is available on iTunes; it is the second song fans have heard released from the album behind Get Low ft. Jeremih, T.I & 2 Chainz, which hit back in May.
