Good news and bad news from Run The Jewels

One half of Run The Jewels, El-P, has shared the first snippets of their highly anticipated third album Run The Jewels 3, on his Instagram. The Brooklyn rapper, who takes care of ALL of the production on RTJ’s albums (and Killer Mike‘s solo album before that.) Take a listen here:

Sweet!

El-P has also been working hard on Meow The Jewels, a crowdfunded remake of Run The Jewels 2, made entirely of cat sounds. (Don’t worry, it’s for charity.) Guest producers include The Alchemist, Dan The Automator, Zola Jesus and Boots.

But the bad news is that we’ll be waiting a lot longer than expected, to hear the follow-up to what was, in this writer’s opinion, the greatest album of 2014.

Taking to twitter, El-P told his fans that due to their relentless touring schedule, RTJ3 is still a while away yet, and that he’s taking his time to make the record as great as possible. We’re hardly complaining about that!

It comes as no surprise, considering how brash, passionate and just unbelievably great they are live, not to mention how busy they are gracing comic book covers, giving speeches at universities and visiting the White House. I guess we’ll have to just sit and patiently wait for a few months extra.

Start with their most recent solo albums, R.A.P Music and Cancer For Cure respectively. You’ll know why when you hear ’em. You can also read our interview with them right here.
