Mojo Juju’s Favourite Tunes

It’s safe to say that we’ve fallen in love with Melbourne’s Mojo Juju. Completely unique in the Australian musical environment today, her bluesy tunes are catchy, powerful and packed with serious groove. I am so in awe of the strength in her voice, owning those melodies like nobody’s business.

This Friday will see the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Seeing Red/Feeling Blue, and from what we’ve heard so far, this is going to be one hell of an album.

With influences ranging from Stevie Wonder and Bette Davis to Andre 3000, we wanted to get to know a little bit more about her and her taste. So, we asked her what some of her favourite tunes were, and the results are excellent.

My favourite track to wake up to is… Stevie Wonder – Do I do
The best track for cooking is…  Billie Holiday – The way you look tonight
The best track for spring cleaning is… Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – I won’t back down
The ultimate road trip track is…. Link Wray – Rumble
My favourite love song is… Otis Redding – I’ve been loving you too long
The best track for sweet love makin’ is…  Betty Davis – Your mama wants ya back
The track that always gets the party started is… Beastie Boys – (You gotta) fight for your right (to party)
The best track to wind down a crowd is… Biz Markie – Just a friend
My favourite drunken karaoke track is… Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of The Heart
My favourite song to sing in the shower is… Louis Jordan – Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens
A song that always makes me cry is… Roy Orbison – Crying
