Letterman’s final ever guests: Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and more

The undisputed king of late night TV, David Letterman, will be retiring on May 20 before handing the baton to Stephen Colbert. To celebrate his 33 years of Late Night/Late Show, his final ever guests are pretty damn stellar.

At the time of writing this, there’s only 28 shows until we say goodbye. Among the special guests includes a very rare public performance by the one and only Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, Mumford & Sons and more.

Other celebrities who will be saying their last goodbyes include Tina Fey, George Clooney, Will Ferrell and Bill Murray

Tom Waits isn’t exactly known for his public appearances, but he’s made exceptions for Letterman, having appeared numerous times over the years – last in 2012. This will actually be one of his only TV appearances since that time. I feel like this is also the right time to reveal that I am a diehard Tom Waits fan. He’s one of, if not my all time favourite artist, so I know I’ll be tuning in! Meanwhile, Elvis Costello actually once filled in for Letterman as the show’s host when he was ill.
