One third of acclaimed Aussie hip hop heroes Thundamentals is no stranger to going it alone! TUKA has just released his debut single, Nirvana, from his forthcoming THIRD album Life Death Time Eternal – and it is very exciting indeed!
Deep and melodic, Nirvana sees the MC looking at all things spiritual. He says of the track, “I really wanted to write a song that was feel good and calming to everyone who heard it. It’s one of those songs that literally just flowed out of me with no filter. I wish all my songwriting came that easily. The only lyrics that weren’t written on the spot then and there were “I am a memory a memory I am”, which I wrote while I was drunk, skateboarding down a hill yelling at the top of my lungs at 1 o’clock in the morning.”
TUKA is challenging the genre he feels at home in, pushing boundaries lyrically and sonically. Teaming up with Melbourne based producer Countbounce (Dan Sultan, 360, PEZ, TZU, Urthboy) and songwriter Alex Hope, this is an ambitious and important step forward for the MC, but one that sounds like it’s going to really pay off!
