Music gods, thank you. The wait is finally over. After much speculation and dreaming and generally waiting impatiently, Perth’s psychedelic kings Tame Impala have released the first single off their forthcoming third album. And it’s nearly eight minutes long.
Available as a free download from their website, Let It Happen is everything you wanted – and then some. We’d already been told that there’d be a more electric feel to this album, and there sure it. It’s a little more synth-pop than we’ve previously heard, blended in with that gorgeous washed-out psych vibe that we’ve come to know and love. Sprawling and emotive, there’s a massive, extended synth jam (which admittedly might’ve gone a teensy weensy bit too long *hides from the flaming how-dare-you-criticise-them pitchforks*) after the four-minute mark that’s sure to become a highlight in live sets.
They’ve also just announced a series of international tour dates, so here’s hoping a homecoming leg will be on the way too.
