Kanye West receives honorary doctorate; gets home call from President

Living up to your own hype is not something that is easy to do, but Chicago rapper Kanye West has shown us once again that anything is possible if you just believe in yourself.

The outspoken musician has been in the headlines once again for two noticeable achievements in the past week: receiving an honorary doctorate from the Art Institute of Chicago and claiming to have received a call from the top dog himself, President Barack Obama, at his home.

The college drop out will be no more, as he revealed to Clique that he’s receiving an honorary doctorate later on this summer:

“I was a gifted artist since age five and won national competitions and went to art school,” said Kanye. “I’m actually getting an honorary doctorate on May 5th from the Art Institute of Chicago.”

In the past, West attended the American Academy of Art and Chicago State University briefly, before dropping out to pursue a career in music, hence the name of his first album The College Dropout.

In other Kanye-related achievements, West claims that President Obama called him at home, something the latter seems to not quite agree with.

When probed on Jimmy Kimmel Live about the matter, Obama responded with:

“I met Kanye twice. The first time was when I was a senator and he was with his mom and he had just gotten big… And then about six months ago he came to an event. I love his music,” Obama responded. “I don’t think I’ve got his home number.”

However, TMZ asked West themselves if the rumours of a presidential home call were true. West, in his typically self-congratulatory manner, replied:

“I love Obama. He called our house before. He knows that. Don’t try to pit us against each other.”

Well I suppose that settles that then.
