Ben Stiller was in a high school punk band

So it turns out that one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Ben Stiller, is more than just a rom-com-and-occasionally-dramedy actor. In fact, he was once a drummer in a high school punk band.

They were called Capital Punishment and they self-released an album called Roadkill back in 1982.

Recently, someone uncovered his irreverent past. Indie label Captured Tracks have revealed that they plan to reissue Roadkill later this year.

Speaking to Howard Stern this week, Stiller said, “What happened was some outsider music label, which I didn’t know those existed, but people who are just into weird music; I guess it’s been found and they asked us if they could re-release it. They’re called Captured Tracks. They’re a real company.”

Captured Tracks aren’t exactly ‘outside’ but I guess life is different when you’re Ben Stiller. Among their roster lie the likes of Laneway acts Mac DeMarco and Perfect Pussy.

Interestingly, Stiller wasn’t the only band member who went on to bigger and brighter things. Other than member Kriss Roebling whose ancestors built the Brooklyn Bridge, the band also included Peter Zusi, now a Professor of slavic studies at UCL, and Arizona’s Supreme Court Justice Peter Swann.
