ASAP Yams’ cause of death confirmed

Two months after the tragic death of A$AP Yams, the cause has finally been revealed.

According to reports from The New York Times, the 26 year old was another victim of a drug overdose. The New York City chief medical examiner found that he “died of an acute mixed-drug intoxication, including opiates and benzodiazepines.”

Yams’ struggles with his drug addiction and visit to rehab in July 2014 were out in the open. Despite his attempts to kick his habit, he lost his battle all too soon. On the morning of January 18th, he was found in his apartment in Brooklyn. He was pronounced dead at Woodhull Medical Centre.

Some of the other members of A$AP Mob paid tribute to him in various ways. A$AP Ferg posted a picture of himself with Yams on Instagram saying, “You will be missed, bro. We done touched a lot of ground together, landed on a lot of different soil. You will always be loved, and your spirit will live on!”

They were understandably upset by their friend’s passing. A$AP Rocky cut his performance short at the Sundance Film Festival this year. He explained why in an interview with Billboard, “I was fucked up then. I’m getting back into things. I’m not fully there but shit takes time.”

His presence in the world of music will not go unremembered. Yams, you will be missed.
