Yumi Zouma make synth-pop at it’s sweetest

Hype Machine topping Alena is the first taste of NYC-via-Auckland trio Yumi Zouma‘s second EP, and if this is anything to go by, we can all expect pretty great things! Having recently signed to SPUNK, we’re clearly not the only ones that is digging this refreshing take on synth-pop, and it won’t be long until many others do as well.

Having already received from nods from Pitchfork and many, many others, this debut single softly demands your attention with it’s hazy pop sounds. The song rises and falls, with gentle vocal hooks and a weightless synths caressing your ear drums as it worms it’s way in there. The band have already supported the likes of Chet FakerLorde and How To Dress Well, and are headed for Australia to play at Beyond The Valley and Lost Paradise, but something makes me feel like it won’t be long until they’re back playing to much bigger audiences. With a sound like this, it’s only a matter of time!
